The small drawer opens for storage, but a further lock opens a secret larger drawer with hidden storage and a hinged panel to support a book. Fully lined interior with further inlays, and abundant applied rococo cast brass detail throughout.
The whole raised on finely carved tapering gilt legs set on lotus leaf feet. Based on an original by Beurdeley of the early 19th century.
